SUMMIT HIGHLIGHTS
Engagement and Participation
The summit witnessed high levels of engagement and participation from the delegates. They actively participated in discussions, debates, and workshops, showcasing enthusiasm for learning and contributing to solutions. The delegates’ commitment was evident in their willingness to engage with diverse perspectives and work collaboratively to develop consensus-driven recommendations.
Key Notes
The summit fostered engaging discussions on critical issues like women participation in political leadership, climate change, sustainable development, artificial intelligence, and youth empowerment, leading to well-informed and thought-provoking debates.
The committees developed impactful resolutions reflecting the collective vision of the young leaders on various issues. These resolutions will be presented to the Commonwealth Secretariat and other relevant stakeholders for consideration.Â
The summit successfully raised awareness of the Commonwealth Charter, Commonwealth Youth Programme and the Commonwealth Youth Council, highlighting their crucial role in empowering young people.
The summit solidified partnerships between participating countries, fostering a renewed commitment to the Commonwealth’s core values and principles.
Impact on Participants
The Commonwealth Secretariat played a pivotal role in endorsing the summit and providing guidance and support to the organizers.Â
Dr. Terri-Ann Gilbert-Roberts, Research Manager at the Social Policy Development division of the Commonwealth Secretariat, provided valuable insights about the Commonwealth during pre-summit webinars, setting the stage for the summit’s success.
The Commonwealth Youth Council’s Vice Chairperson, Ms. Christabel Derby, was a key speaker at the summit, providing valuable insights and guidance to the participants.
Several other organizations and institutions contributed to the success of the summit, including the British High Commission, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Youth Authority, the British Council, and the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council.Â
The summit benefited from the expertise and guidance of numerous individuals who provided mentorship and facilitated the Mentorship and Diplomacy Dialogue sessions.
